Burrr io is a multiplayer digging game where drills carve through a round planet, collect ore and track rivals mostly by engine noise. It looks simple until silence starts mattering.

How to play

You dig through the ground, grab useful resources and grow stronger while other drills are doing exactly the same nearby. Rock blocks your view, so listening is a big part of Burrr io. A loud engine gives away your direction; switch it off and you disappear from their sound tracking until you move again. Waiting in a side tunnel can be smarter than a blind rush.

There are free-for-all, capture the flag and hide-and-seek modes. The terrain also causes trouble: sand can collapse, water can flood opened tunnels, and lava is best treated as a very obvious warning. Going deeper may pay better, but farming without watching the surroundings is lowkey asking for trouble.

• Stop the engine before setting up an ambush
• Listen before entering another player's tunnel
• In capture the flag, use tunnels to approach the enemy base from another direction
