Pixel Metropolis is a single-player pixel-art city builder where Paris grows from a tiny prehistoric camp into a city across thousands of years. You set the conditions, while the people do a surprising amount on their own.
How to play
Pixel Metropolis starts beside the Seine with a few settlers and almost nothing around them. Lay paths, make food and useful resources reachable, then add services as the settlement expands. Residents choose where to live and create their own homes and workplaces, so this is not the kind of game where every little house gets placed by hand.
The demo goes through the Paleolithic, Neolithic and Metal Age. Farming, animals, crafts, trade, social classes and fortifications gradually join the mix. Old roads and buildings stay around when a new era starts, which gives the city a pretty nice vibe and also means early planning can matter much later.
Tips
Use roads to guide where the settlement develops
Keep important resources connected to growing areas
Remember that changing eras does not automatically replace old buildings
